A Gaelic gathering is being held in Oban for people and groups interested in the development and promotion of the language in Argyll and the isles.
Gaelic has a rich tradition and a strong future in Argyll, with many people involved in a wide range of activities in their communities and their businesses to raise awareness and celebrate the language.
Argyll and Bute Council is hosting the gathering at the Corran Halls, Oban, on Saturday August 20, from 10am until 4pm.
The council’s policy lead for Gaelic, Councillor Robin Currie said: “This is a great opportunity for people across Argyll to come together, share ideas and explore if more can be achieved by working together to promote the language and culture.”
Based around the themes of the Gaelic Language Plan, the day will include presentations and workshops on Gaelic and the economy; Gaelic in the community; Gaelic in education; and Gaelic and culture.
