Police identify missing walker

Police have confirmed that a body found a week ago in an area of Lochalsh is that of Roger Fletcher.

The 77-year-old’s body was found a week ago at Camas-luinie, near Dornie, and his family have since been informed of the formal identification.

Mr Fletcher, of Dundee, was last seen when he set out from a holiday home in Bundalloch, near Dornie, at around 8.30am on Sunday, June 5.

Extensive searches were carried out, involving police officers, police and SARDA dogs, Kintail and RAF Mountain Rescue Teams and lifeboat and Coastguard personnel.

These covered the Dornie, Bundalloch and Glenshiel areas and around the A87 Invergarry to Kyle road in the Cluanie direction.

Police also launched a poster campaign in the area.

Meanwhile, three walkers – Goffredo Bondanelli, 56, Eric Cyl, 62, and Tom Brown, 65 – are still missing in the Lochaber area.

Mr Bondanelli, a German national, was last seen in Fort William on Tuesday, May 3, boarding a train to Lochailort, before undertaking a 21-mile walk between Lochailort and Glenfinnan.

Mr Cyl was last seen heading for the Ring of Steall in the Mamore range on May 30 last year and Mr Brown, 65, set off alone in Glen Nevis on July 2, 2015.
