Police rushed to a Grantown street when a woman phoned in panic as her ex-partner threatened to shoot her and burn her house down.
But after a dramatic 75 minutes, officers tracked down 27 year old Johnathon McIvor, of 62 Milton Park, Aviemore, used pepper spray on him before placing him in handcuffs and arresting him.
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, McIvor admitted, on indictment, a breach of the peace by claiming to be in possession of a gun; pretending to pour liquid over a car, threaten to set fire to Lara Robinson’s house in Chapel Court, threaten to kill her and her new partner, on August 23, last year.
He also admitted resisting arrest, struggling violently with police officers, act in an aggressive manner against them and lash out with his arms and feet.
The offences were committed while McIvor was on several bail orders.
Sentence was deferred until August 23 this year for a background report and bail was continued.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley told the court that it was 4.15am when Miss Robinson and her new partner were wakened by McIvor shouting and swearing.
“She joined him outside and when he attempted to pull her towards his car, she refused. He then stated: ‘I’ve got a gun in the boot, I’m going to pop every one of you. I’m going to kill the lot of you.
“Miss Robinson managed to get back inside and phone the police. They attended and 4.35am believing that McIvor had a gun and was threatening to shoot members of the public.
“He fled the location in his vehicle and police gave chase. He then returned and pretended to pour liquid form a petrol can over her new partner’s car whilst holding a lighter. He also stated he would burn their house down.”
The court was told that police officers returned to the scene as well as the Fire Brigade after Miss Robinson made a second call and after another chase, he was eventually arrested.
