Police are warning cyclists to lock up their bikes following the theft of a distinctive mountain bike from a leisure centre in Fort William
Officers investigating the theft are treating it as linked to similar cases where high value bicycles have been stolen in nearby Oban and Crianlarich.
The black Trek Remedy 8 full suspension cycle with bright green pedals, which was secured outside Lochaber Leisure Centre in Fort William, is believed to have been stolen early on Monday afternoon.
A police spokeswoman said: “This theft follows a number of similar reports of high value cycles being taken in the neighbouring Oban and Crianlarich area of Argyll.
“Police are investigating the possibility these incidents are linked and would meantime appeal to all cyclists to ensure they secure their bike carefully when not in use, to help deter opportunistic thieves.”
Anyone with information on the theft is asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
