The funeral of a man who was killed in a mountain fall takes place on Monday.
Fred Maclean of Aberdeen died on Saturday morning while walking at Aonach Eagach Ridge in Glencoe.
Police and a coastguard helicopter went to the scene but the 44-year-old suffered fatal injuries.
The keen hillwalker who had climbed 218 Munros was originally from Shawbost on the Isle of Lewis.
His family have launched a fundraising drive in aid of Glencoe Mountain Rescue team which recovered his body.
His funeral service takes place at Shawbost Free Church at 11.30am. Following the 30 minute service the cortege will head to Bragar cemetery for the burial. A wake will be held in the same church on Sunday evening.
Mr Maclean’s family said he was “always an outdoors person and he loved hillwalking so much”.
His sister, Marina Fraser, said: “Our family will be forever grateful for the volunteers of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team for carrying his body off the mountain.”
“Glencoe Mountain Rescue team members are unpaid volunteers and it costs tens of thousands of pounds every year for the team to operate.”
A very small part of this funding comes from the Scottish Government while the bulk is from fundraising and donations.
Mrs Fraser said: “The running costs of the team run to tens of thousands of pounds each year, and without these donations the team simply would be unable to operate at the current level.”
So far, nearly £2000 has been donated to the JustGiving page.
Mrs Fraser said: “We are overwhelmed by the donations and kind messages so far, thank you from the family as a whole at this tragic time.
“We are indebted to the superb volunteers of the Glencoe Mountain Rescue team who give up their spare time to help others.”
Wellwishers also left messages of support for Fred’s wife, Gayle, and daughters.
Valerie Ross wrote: “Fred was a respected colleague and good friend to many at Subsea 7. He will be missed by all of us. Sincere condolences to Gayle and all of Fred’s family and friends.”
Louise and James Tough said: “Thank you for getting Fred back to his loved ones. You all do a fantastic job. Lots of love to Gayle and their lovely girls and all of the family in Lewis.”
