A Highland games event that was planned for tomorrow has been cancelled due to a forecast of bad weather.
The Mallaig and Morar Highland Games at Morar in Lochaber is traditionally held on the first Sunday of August.
A spokesman for the games committee said: “The forecast for gale force winds due to arrive late Saturday afternoon and continue more or less unabated through Sunday combined with heavy rain have forced us to make this decision.”
He explained that members reviewed the forecast on Thursday and with no significant alteration overnight decided to call off the event yesterday morning.
He said: “The safety of the competitors and spectators is of paramount importance and we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel this year’s games.”
