Popular Highland games called off due to severe weather

A popular Highland games has been cancelled due to severe weather, it has been announced.
The Mallaig and Morar Highland Games Committee have taken the decision to cancel their annual highland games due to take place in Morar on Sunday.
The forecast for gale force winds across the north, due late Saturday afternoon and to continue more or less unabated through Sunday, combined with heavy rain have forced forced the committee’s hand.
Reviewing the forecast on Thursday and seeing no significant alteration overnight, organisers took the decision to cancel the games on Friday morning saying: “The safety of the competitors and spectators is of paramount importance and we have reluctantly taken the decision to cancel this year’s games.”
