Public events taking place in the Highlands and Islands in the coming months are among those set to benefit from a share of a £233,000 funding pot.
A total of 21 events across the country will receive grants from EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s events directorate.
Groove Loch Ness music festival, which takes place in less than two weeks, is one of those set to benefit.
The Highland Military Tattoo at Fort George, expected to once again draw thousands of spectators this year, will also receive a grant.
The Heb – Race on the Edge, a gruelling adventure race which takes place in the Hebrides, and Aviemore’s annual Thunder in the Glens motorcycle event, will also receive grants.
Among others is Commando Spirit – Survive the Yomp, Auchnacarry, Spean Bridge, the Glencoe Skyline event at Glencoe mountain and the Camanachd cup final in Fort William.
The funding supports the development of events outside of Edinburgh and Glasgow, with the aim of driving domestic tourism and economic impact for local communities.
Building upon existing event programmes, improving marketing practices and enhancing the on-site food and drink offer are just some of the ways that these funds will be put to use.
The average value of grant being administered is more than £11,000.
