On Shetland, there were only two fourth year pupils at Baltasound Junior High School in Unst and both had impressive results.
Sula Brookes, 15, of Baltasound, gained seven As at National 5 in Maths, Physics, French, English, Business Management, Art and Music.
She said: “I was hoping to do well but my biggest fear was that I wouldn’t do as well as I did in my prelims – I got five As and two Bs in my prelims. So it was nice.
“I am now at Anderson High School in Lerwick where I am doing five Highers in Maths, Physics, English, Music and French.
“They year after I will stay on and do Advanced Highers and take a Higher in Business Management.
“After that, to be honest I’m not really sure.”
Michael Jamieson of Hoversta, Uyeasound, aged 15-year-old gained six As and a B a National 5. He scored As in Maths, Physics, Computing, French, Graphic Communications and Physical Education and a B in English.
Michael said: “It’s amazing, I’m delighted. Now I go to Anderson High School where I study Maths, Physics and Graphic Communications at Higher level. I think I want to go into construction and will study that at Uni when I leave school.”
