A male pedestrian has died following an accident on the A9 earlier this morning.
The collision with a vehicle occured at around 2.30am this morning, on the A9 at Evelix, Dornoch.
The road was closed with diversions put in place via the A949 at Clashmore, the A836 to Lairg and the A839 to the Mound. It re-opened at around 2.30pm.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The A9 is now open at Evelix, near Dornoch, following an earlier road traffic collision between a van and a pedestrian which occurred around 2.28am this morning between the Clashmore and Camore junctions.
“Very sadly, the man died at the scene and officers are liaising with his family. Inquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone who saw a man walking on or near the road last night or the early hours of this morning to contact 101.”
