This is the incredible moment a message in a bottle was finally discovered on a Highland beach – 20 years after it was thrown out to sea.
On Wednesday, two decades after Leigh Hughes from Liverpool first sent out the handwritten note on the Isle of Harris, local campers found it on a beach in Wester Ross.
Tom Tindale, who owns Shieldaig Outdoor Adventures, filmed the amazing footage before posting it on social media on Wednesday evening.
It has since been viewed more than 37,000 times, attracting attention from around the world.
The note reads: “Hello my name is Leigh Hughes, I am ten-years-old, born 24th of the third 1996. I live in Merseyside.
“If you find this and would like to be my pen pal just write to me at the above address.I put this bottle out at sea at the Isle of Harris on Thursday 27th June 1996.”
