The owner of a luxury Highland hotel is gifting a free stay for Scottish NHS staff and care workers once the coronavirus outbreak is over.
Shaun McKivragan, who runs the Airds Hotel and Restaurant in Port Appin, is pledging two one-night stays with dinner, bed and breakfast for two people on a nomination basis.
A gourmet dinner for two is also on the table at its restaurant without accommodation, with two pledges on offer.
After hearing stories surrounding the ongoing work by carers and medical staff Mr McKivragan decided it was time to give something back.
He said: “Several of my family and friends are employed by the NHS and I get to hear about how tough it is for them.
“I have one relative who is a doctor in ICU which of course is predominantly dealing with Covid-19 cases and this is especially tough to handle.
“My father in law is currently in a care home and I equally know how tough it is on care staff in these residential homes – what a fabulous job they are all doing.
“It is something very close to my heart.”
NHS staff can be nomination by emailing care@airds-hotel.com with the closing date of May 18.
A draw for the stay will take place soon afterwards.
It has been assured that once the draw is complete, contact details will not be retained for marketing purposes.
Mr McKivragan added: “This is a thank you pure and simple.
“Everyone is under enough pressure at the moment and I want to give a few key workers something to look forward to.”
