A three-year funding package has been secured to give pupils at a Highland school additional maths tuition.
All 237 pupils at Golspie High in Sutherland now have access to free online tutorials outside school hours after the parent council arranged support from local organisations.
Construction and civil engineering company Edward Mackay Contractor Ltd has pledged funding for two years and Kilbraur Wind Farm Community Benefit Trust is covering the cost of a further year.
Tracey Campbell, chairwoman of the school’s parent council, said: “Young people from rural areas can find it challenging to access the same facilities as are available in urban areas.
“Golspie High School is determined to do everything possible to increase career options for its pupils and the support of local organisations is invaluable.”
The online maths programme teaches via 925 different ten-minute videos, then assesses pupils’ understanding with short quizzes whose results are given instantly and can be viewed by teachers.
