A couple who were on a day trip on the west coast got more than they bargained for as a stag approached their car and plucked an apple right out of their hands.
Chris Jenkins and Laura Mackenzie, who live in Inveress, took a pit stop on their journey through Torridon on Friday.
Departing the car to capture a few images, the stag decided to join the couple for a spot of lunch.
Miss Mackenzie said: “The stag was sat at the side of the road. I came out of the car to take some pictures and as I did, the stag was staring directly at us.
“I grabbed an apple from the car and just held out my hand and the next thing it was walking straight over to me and took the apple from my hand.
“It was a wee bit scary but the stag seemed very friendly.
“It was amazing. To be that close to such a magical creature – I was just over the moon.
“It was an amazing experience. I hope the stag will remember us now.”
Interestingly, the chance occurrence now means that both Mr Jenkins and Miss Mackenzie have both personally fed stags.
Last year in Glencoe, Mr Jenkins had his own experience as he fed one antlered stag.
