Tennis superstar Maria Sharapova has been sharing videos with her legions of fans as she visits the Scottish Highlands.
The Russian 34-year-old one posted the short videos to her 4.1 million followers on Instagram on Saturday.
Her adventures so far have taken in Plockton Harbour in the Wester Ross area of the Highlands and Kyle of Lochalsh on the north-west of Scotland, among other places.
And it looks like the now-retired former world number one has been using different modes of transport to explore, with shots from trains and boats published.
In one story, the Olympic silver medalist is wearing a green rain coat with the hood back, in front of a picturesque Highland backdrop. Alongside the video, she wrote: “This rain coat took me through the jungle of Rwanda, and now through the thunderstorms in the Kyles of Scotland.”
Others show the jaw-dropping scenery while on train journeys on the west coast, while one has what could be perceived as a tongue-in-cheek dig at the Scottish weather.
The five-time Grand Slam winner said: “Apparently this is normal in Scotland?” followed by a laughing face emoji.
The text appeared in front of a picture on a boat, with rain water running under the roof creating puddles on the floor.
According to Forbes, Sharapova was the highest paid female athlete in the world 11 years running and announced her retirement from professional tennis in February 2020 following defeat to Donna Vekić at the Australian Open.
Whether Sharapova is in the Highlands for work reasons or for a holiday remains unclear.
Not the only famous face…
Sharapova follows other famous names who have made a trip north in recent times.
Pop star Sam Smith was recently seen checking into the Aultguish Inn near Garve last month.
The Stay With Me and Money On My Mind singer was believed to be visiting the North Coast 500 (NC500) with friends.
