A pedestrian has died after a collision with a car in Benbecula.
He is the second man to have been killed in a road accident in the remote Uists within two weeks.
The victim died on the A865 at Ford Terrace, Creagorry, at Benbecula on Thursday evening.
Diversions in both directions were still in place this morning.
“The road is expected to be closed for some time whilst investigations take place,” a Police Scotland spokesman said.

The funeral of teenage footballer Carl Macphee who died following a car crash in South Uist was held the same day.
Carl died after the vehicle he was travelling in went off the road near the Co-op store at Daliburgh in South Uist the previous weekend.
The apprentice electronics engineer and four teammates from the Lochdar Saints Football Club were travelling together when their car crashed.
They had been heading home after a game against Eriskay.
No other vehicle was involved in the collision.
Gaelic singer Fowlis from North Uist said that she had decided not to go ahead with her concert in Carinish and her thoughts were with the family.
