Almost £200,000 has been shared by community groups and schools in the Highlands after the latest round of national lottery awards.
Cash will go to 31 groups, from a judo club in Invergordon, to a theatre class in Grantown.
People in Inches in Inverness have cause to celebrate after the area’s community association and primary school got £10,000 each, which will be spent on play equipment.
The association will invest in playground apparatus for disabled children using Inshes Park, while the school will install an outdoor classroom in the grounds.
The Rush Dance group also landed £10,000 to convert a building in Thurso into a studio, as did Newmore Primary, which is creating an outdoor play space for the entire community, near Invergordon.
In total, £194,835 has gone to the Highlands from a national payout of £2,015,070, benefiting 285 community groups through the lottery’s Awards For All programme.
A spokesman for the scheme said: “These grants, totalling more than £2million, will benefit over 280 groups across the country and shows the variety of projects that can be funded through Awards for All.
“We are always surprised at the difference a relatively small amount of money can make in communities across Scotland and wish all of these groups the best of luck for the future.”
Awards for All Scotland is a partnership between Sportscotland and the Big Lottery Fund, and groups are already applying for the next round of grants.
