A man fell into the sea at Oban during one of the worst storms of the winter.
Oban Lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald was called out for the first time in 2015 last night in wind speeds in excess of 55mph.
At 11.40pm Stornoway Coastguard received information that a man had fallen from the North Pier in Oban Bay.
Oban’s volunteer lifeboat crew was obscene in minutes and began the search for the man immediately.
Iain Fulton, spokesman for Oban Lifeboat, said: “Searching in such conditions is a challenging task, however shortly after beginning the search it was confirmed that the man had been fortunately been recovered from the water and was safe and well. Oban Lifeboat therefore returned to station again by midnight.”
