Firefighters have been tackling a major wildfire near Dornoch this afternoon.
Eight crews are now at the scene of the outbreak near the town’s water treatment works.
FireA large area of grassland and gorse bushes are ablaze.
Fire units from Dornoch, Tain, Lairg, Balintore, Inverness, Dingwall and two from Invergordon are at the scene.
A water carrier has also been sent to the area from Inverness.
The alarm was raised at around 12.37pm.
Fire crews are also tackling a large blaze near Onich in Lochaber.
Two fire units from Fort William and one from Kinlochleven have been sent to the incident, which is affecting between 20 and 30 acres of grassland.
A further fire was extinguished at Daviot Woods near Milton of Leys in Inverness earlier this afternoon.
Fire crews in the Western Isles have also been called out to tackle a wildfire on moorland near Shawbost on Lewis
The incident comes after a warning of an increased threat of wildfires in parts of Scotland over the next few days.
The fire and rescue service said dry windy weather and large quantities of dead vegetation, such as heather and pine needles, had heightened the chance of wildfires.
