It does not seem like the most peaceful of places to set up home.
But this bird has become centre of attention in Thurso after settling down in a pub sign.
The bird has made a nest in the sign of Top Joes bar – and has been attracting attention from passers-by and tourists.
The bird, thought to be a dove – which has naturally been given the nickname Joe – has made its home in the second O of the sign.
Landward Caithness councillor Willie Mackay spotted the bird above the Traill Street pub.
He said: “It is obviously not a homer or one that has got lost, it is a typical feral bird who like many will make their home in an unusual spot such as high up accessible ledges on tall buildings but there are quite a few of them around who would normally go for an exotic perch or a bit of piece and quiet but not Joe – he or she likes the scenery and the hustle bustle that an everyday town centre and its attractions.
“What’s more it sits on the nest for long periods of time which can only mean one thing that its at home to roost and where better.”
