A 51-year-old Black Isle worker was caught driving her car through Inverness with more than six times the permitted amount of alcohol in her system.
Now first offender Linda Kerr, Burnfarm Cottages, Killen, Avoch, could have her red Peugeot 5008 1.6 estate worth around £8,500 confiscated because of the high reading.
Kerr appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday and admitted driving with excess alcohol.
The charge read that on August 13, she drove on the A9 at Leys Square, Miltons of Leys, Stevenson Road, Walter Scott Drive and Grigor Drive while the proportion of alcohol in her breath was 142mgs. The permitted level is 22mgs.
Fiscal depute Michelle Molley said Kerr had no previous convictions.
But before Ms Molley could tell Sheriff David Sutherland the circumstances of the case, he decided that he would defer for a background report “given the high level”.
Ms Molley then said she would be moving for the vehicle to be forfeited.
Defence lawyer Laura Macnaughton told the Sheriff the car belonged to her client.
She added: “Her sister-in-law and daughter are in court. They are going to sell the car. My client is a carer and her job will be at risk given this conviciton.
“The car will be sold to provide her with some finance if she needs to find another job.”
Kerr will be sentenced on September 19 and an interim disqualification was imposed. The Sheriff also deferred consideration of forfeiture until then.
