A ward at Raigmore Hospital has reopened after being cleared of norovirus.
Ward 7C at the Inverness hospital was closed for a week after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
A total of eight patients were affected on the ward during the outbreak.
A spokesman for NHS Highland confirmed that after a deep clean the ward is now “fully operational”.
The ward closed to visitors on Tuesday, August 9 after patients began to show symptoms.
Visiting was briefly suspended to the entire hospital in the early stages of the outbreak.
A health board spokesman said: “Ward 7C has reopened today following a period of closure due to diarrhoea and vomiting.
“The medical ward, which was closed to new admissions and visitors last week because of a norovirus outbreak, was able to reopen following a deep clean and is now fully operational.
“A total of eight patients were affected on the ward during the outbreak.
Norovirus, which causes diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting, spreads in the air where someone has had diarrhoea or vomited and is extremely infectious. It is important that everyone plays their part in reducing outbreak risks.
