Dingwall teenager who resisted police arrest on July 19 was ordered to carry out 135 hours of unpaid community work as an alternative to detention.
Ryan Simpson, Buchanan Court, Station Road, also admitted kicking out at one officer at the Accident and Emergency Department of Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
The 19 year old had been taken there after his arrest in Dingwall because he needed medical attention, fiscal depute David Morton told Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
“He struggled violently with officers, shouting and swearing at them.” Mr Morton said.
Defending, Patrick O’Dea said: “He accepts it was appalling behaviour and is deeply ashamed. He had drunk a whole bottle of spirits.”
Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood told Simpson: “These offences richly deserve a custodial sentence but I will deal with them by the alternative.”

The court heard police had got a tip off that he was driving while drunk.
Defending, Ken Ferguson said: “This was not pre-meditated. Colleagues were to give him a lift but didn’t. There was no local taxi available and no rooms at the pub where he was drinking.
“He took a chance and got caught. With his record, he is aware of the seriousness of his position.” Mr Ferguson added.
Jailing him and banning Macleod from driving for five years, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood told him: “You took a chance and missed.”

The court heard he shouted racial abuse at one English officer as he struggled with officers.
Defending, Roger Webb said: “He regrets becoming involved and should have walked away.”
Johnstone was jailed for 60 days.
Sheriff Fleetwood told him: “You have chosen not to do the order twice, Self selection of prison. 60 days.”
