An Inverness youth who kicked and head-butted city centre windows on a festive season night out was fined £350 yesterday.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that 20-year-old Kyle Christie of Lerwick Crescent, was seen on CCTV on December 30 and reported to the police.
He admitted behaving in a threatening manner and acting aggressively on Bridge Street and Ness Bridge.
Depute fiscal Robert Weir told Sheriff David Sutherland that when officers found him he was flailing his arms around.
Defending, Clare Russell said Christie was under the influence of drink and had no recollection of events.
“He is extremely ashamed at his behaviour.” she added.
A drug addict who shouted abuse at an ambulance crew and medical staff was jailed for eight months at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Sheriff David Sutherland was told it was the third time in the past year that Daniel McCafferty, described as an Inverness prisoner, had committed similar offences at the Accident and Emergency unit at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.
The 26 year old admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner on June 6.
In another incident on November 10 last year, he admitted a further charge of behaving in a threatening manner towards a member of staff at the o2 shop in the Eastgate shopping centre.
Depute fiscal Robert Weir said this arose when he went into the shop with his phone and some difficulty arose over identification.
Solicitor Willie Young said McCafferty had no recollection of what happened at Raigmore.
A Sheriff jailed an Inverness man who is currently serving a prison sentence for another seven days after he admitted assaulting a man in the city’s Mealmarket Close.
Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 32 year old Andrew Ryan of Thornbush Road, was already serving a five months sentence for dishonesty which was imposed earlier this month.
Ryan admitted assaulting Allan Woodward by punching him on the face on April 28.
Fiscal depute Robert Weir Ryan’s victim was walking home and they got into an argument.
Sheriff David Sutherland fined Ryan £200 but imposed the jail alternative instead.
A delivery driver who was stopped by police for a routine check was caught with 12.1 grams of cannabis in his cab.
Jonathan Ghez, 26, of Culloden Road, Inverness admitted possessing the illegal drug in Culcabock Road on January 26.
Defence solicitor John MacColl told Sheriff Margaret Neilson that Ghez was a long term user of the drug and it was for personal use.
Sheriff Neilson fined him £400.
