Emergency services were called to a fire at an Inverness home which resulted in a man being taken to hospital.
The incident is thought to have taken place inside or in the area of a ground floor flat within a block of flats in the city’s Glendoe Terrace, at about 3pm.
Police and specialist investigators wearing gloves could be seen examining an area of pavement in front of the main window of the property.
Other police officers could be seen taking statements from residents, including family members of the man involved in the incident. They were too upset to speak about what had happened.
A fire service spokesman confirmed that two appliances from the city were sent to the scene but said that they were not required.
Police confirmed that an ambulance went to the scene and local residents said that a man was taken to Raigmore Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which were thought to be self inflicted.
His condition was not known but was not believed to be life-threatening.
