An Aberdeen woman was ordered to pay the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service compensation of £300 after she admitted hindering a firefighter from silencing a fire alarm.
Finance assistant, 25 year old Jenny Drever, of Candlemakers Lane admitted breaking the peace by setting off the device in a property in Academy Street, Inverness on February 21, this year. She also pleaded guilty to obstructing an emergency worker.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard she was drunk and thrown out of a party.
Defence lawyer Clare Russell said: “Her shoes, phone and purse were still inside, she became very distressed and tried to get back in by setting off the alarm.
“The Fire Brigade attended and she tried to stop it but only hindered the firefighter.”
A 47 year old Inverness man was fined £500 at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday after he admitted the reset of a laptop and case.
Anthony McGuire of Rosehaugh Road had sold the equipment to a friend after his brother, Joseph decided he didn’t want it, the court heard.
Fiscal depute Karen Smith said the computer had been stolen from a house in Telford Street in June last year and was traced a few days later.
Defending, Marc Dickson said: “He should have known the provenance of it because it did not have a charger lead.
