A generous donation will enable a centre in Inverness which cares for people with dementia to get a new vehicle for collecting day care clients.
Tulloch Homes has given £25,000 to the Woodlands Centre, run by Alzheimers Scotland, at Hedgefield, Inverness, for the people carrier.
Woodlands has 76 places a week to help support people with dementia in the Inverness area and is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
George Fraser, chairman of Tulloch Homes, said: “In our own 90th anniversary celebrations, we’ve already donated £25,000 each to the Archie Highland Appeal for the new children’s hospital ward, and to Highland Hospice, two great local causes.
“The Woodland Centre staff have been good neighbours during the building of our now-completed Hedgefield Apartments complex adjoining their premises, so we’re delighted to help them in this way.”
Wendy Burges, service manager at Woodlands, said: “The new people carrier from Tulloch enables us to continue to improve the service we offer and enhance flexibility.
“We want people with dementia to continue to integrate in their community, the same as other people do without undue disadvantage or to stand out as different. The generous gift of this vehicle will help us do this.
“We can take small groups on outings, go out to local places and have coffee, go shopping or visit garden centres to help choose plants for the Woodlands garden.”
Lynne Boyd, Tulloch Homes sales director handed over the keys of the people carrier to the Woodlands Centre.
