A family was left shaken but unharmed after a car crashed into their garden in Inverness while children were playing in the front room.
The red Suzuki Vitara knocked over a lamppost and ended up just a few feet from a large front window and door at the home in the city’s Millburn Court area.
Ambulance and police crews were called to the scene after the incident at Diriebught Road at about 4.20pm on Saturday.
Some of the occupants of the vehicle were believed to have been taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital for treatment, although the extent of any injuries is not known.
The owner of the house said that the crash had made a “horrible” noise, but that no-one inside had been injured.
She said: “A lady just came in and hit our garden.
“The police came. My husband phoned the police. The lamppost was damaged and our garden.
“It made a horrible sound. It was quite a bang. The kids were in the living room at the time. I was worried because my youngest was asleep in the room.”
Police officers spoke to members of the family after the incident.
There were understood to have been four or five occupants of the vehicle.
The Suzuki ended up facing the Millburn Road end of Diriebught Road, but it was not clear which direction it had been travelling in when it left the road.
Diriebught Road has a 30mph restriction, reduced to 20mph when youngsters are on their way to nearby Millburn Academy, and also has traffic calming measures.
Yesterday, temporary orange barriers marked the spot where the 4×4 had destroyed the fence.
The lamppost and the vehicle had been removed from the site.
The police could not provide any information about what had happened when contacted by the Press and Journal yesterday.
