It’s been a good week for Highland designer Siobhan Mackenzie.

She had her day made when Canadian superstar Justin Bieber stepped out onto the stage at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro wearing one of her kilts.

And now Judy Murray – mum of tennis legend Andy – has revealed her latest creation – a paisley patterned kilt.

Judy sported the kilt when she attended the glamorous Breast Cancer Care Show at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

The sun ray kilt was produced using a blue paisley print fabric instead of a traditional tartan. It also sported a triple kilt fastening, a feature which is regularly seen on the Fortrose-born designer’s creations.

The 23-year-old said: “I am thrilled that Judy chose to wear my kilt to The Breast Cancer Care Show, the event is for an amazing cause and to have Judy representing one of my designs at it is phenomenal.

“Paisley print is having a bit of a moment just now with Paul Smith and Etro featuring it on their AW16 catwalk along with fellow Scottish designer Holly Fulton who used silk embroidery and velvet print motifs to create her own unique Paisley, therefore Judy is very much on-trend.”

Siobhan, who was recently interviewed by Elle USA, was born and raised on The Black Isle before moving aged 17 to embark upon her fashion education in Glasgow.

“I design kilts for men and women for every occasion. I want to strip away people’s perception of the kilt, I wear one nearly every day; to the office or even on a night out with friends they are extremely versatile,” she said.

“I love pushing the boundaries with my designs. I really can’t thank Judy enough for choosing to wear one of my designs.”
