A masterplan for Inverness city centre development will go to public consultation at the end of January.
People will have six weeks to comment on the document.
Details of the council’s consultation process will follow in due course and be promoted online at www.highland.gov.uk/developmentplans in the new year.
A revised development brief will be presented to the council’s city committee next September for adoption as supplementary guidance.
Inverness Provost Helen Carmichael said: “The development brief sends a clear message that the city centre is open for business. It’s where we want people to invest, work, live and visit.
“It highlights development opportunities for a range of different uses across the city centre, with detailed guidance on key sites in the station area, Castle Hill, the Crown and Longman Road.”
