Staff at a Highland secondary school have delighted pupils by creating their own festive version of Carpool Karaoke.
Youngsters at Millburn Academy in Inverness were shown the surprise video on the last day of the school term yesterday.
US TV chat show host James Corden has received hundreds of millions of online views for his viral Carpool Karaoke clips this year, which features the British comedian driving with celebrities and singing along to their biggest hits.
Now the teachers at the Highland capital’s biggest school have made their own version to ensure 2016 ends on a lighter note for pupils.
The video – which was viewed dozens of times online yesterday – features staff travelling in a school minibus while dancing to Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea.
They stop-off on their journey at well-known city businesses along the way, while pretending to get out to start new jobs.
Millburn Academy rector Gavin MacLean said: “It’s just staff making out that they are going off to do something else other than teaching.
“So the Home Economics staff are going off to Harry Gow, the senior managers are going off the job office.
“It was just a spoof of other Carpool Karaoke videos. Originally it was meant just as a laugh for Christmas.
“It has just been done when people have had 10 minutes to spare. It’s just a bit of fun for the end of term.
“It was put on for the kids today in registration classes and it has gone down pretty well. It’s all meant to be as a bit of fun.”
Highland Council’s director of care and learning Bill Alexander highlighted the video on social media, saying: “This is great, a fantastic staff team – and not a bad advert for tourism in Inverness.”
The runaway success of Mr Corden’s Carpool Karaoke sketches have made the comedian into a global star, with his video featuring Adele alone having been by 140 million times.
