Police in Inverness are investigating a reported attempted robbery at an Inverness coal yard.
A man is reported to have attended Fergusson Coal at Needlefield Yard on Longman Road and engaged with a member of staff before presenting a weapon.
The man then left the scene on foot but officers are unaware of what direction he took.
No items were taken and no members of staff were injured in the incident.
A spokesman from Police Scotland said: “We are appealing to anyone who saw a man of the following description in the Longman Road area between 7.30am and 8.30am this morning.
“He is 6ft in height, average build, wearing a black jacket and black beanie hat, with visible facial stubble.
“Enquiries are at an early stage with officers reviewing CCTV and carrying out door and door enquiries.
“Anyone who saw the man or anyone behaving in a suspicious manner is urged to contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
