Six vehicles were broken into in just one night in an Inverness neighbourhood.
Police received six reports of thefts overnight into Monday morning in the Castle Heather area.
Unlocked cars have been entered and personal items removed, including computer equipment and money.
Inspector Alex Chisholm said: “Taking the simple step of ensuring your vehicle is locked when left unattended will drastically reduce the likelihood of becoming the victim of theft.
“Always remove valuables such as sat-navs, money and personal paper work from the vehicle and leave the glove box empty and open.
“It’s worth security marking all valuable items with your postcode and house name/number in the unfortunate event it is removed from your vehicle or home.
“Don’t give thieves the opportunity they’re looking for: remember to secure your vehicle at all times.”
Police are appealing to anyone who heard or saw any suspicious behaviour around vehicles in the area to make contact via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
