A mix of children’s charities and local organisations met up in Inverness recently for a day of celebrating young people in the care system.
Care Day was marked on February 17 with an event in the Highland capital at the James Cameron Community Centre.
Highland Council, High Life Highland, Who Cares? Scotland and EQ sports put on a spread of food, arts and crafts, a silent disco and ‘bubble football.’
In Highland, 456 children and young people are looked after, with 341 looked after away from their homes.
Council chief executive Steve Barron said: “The council is the corporate parent for all of these children and as chief executive I see my role not only as a responsibility, but a real opportunity to improve their futures.
“Coming together to celebrate Care Day was a great way to meet up, try new activities and make new friends. I’m sure everyone who took part, the young people and the adults, all got a lot out of the day, I know I did.”
