A young Inverness man was told by a Sheriff he was “a daft laddie” after admitting a threat to shoot people on the Inverness University of the Highlands and Islands campus.
Sentence had been deferred for a background report on 20-year-old Stephen Hay, of Torbreck, who admtted behaving in a threatening manner on May 24.
After reading it, Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood told defence agent Rory Gowans: “It seems as if he has been a bit of daft laddie.”
Mr Gowans agreed and the Sheriff decided to defer sentence until September 14 for good behaviour.
He told Hay: “If you have been of good behaviour, then there will be a degree of leniency.”
