Plans for a new “neighbourhood centre” in the Milton of Leys area of Inverness are expected to move a step forward next week.
The scheme, near Milton of Leys Primary School, includes shopping units, open play space, a pitch and a new classroom for the school, as well as setting aside land for a new nursery and a care home.
Tulloch Homes revised previous proposals for following “constructive feedback” from local residents and criticism of the “Soviet-style” design for its flats.
A major adjustment in the plans was dropping the height of proposed apartment buildings from four to two storeys.
A lack of amenities in Milton of Leys have been an ongoing concern in the community for more than a decade.
No objections have been lodged and planning officers have recommended councillors grant outline consent for the scheme next week.
A Tulloch Homes spokesman said: “We have listened to local concerns, amended our proposal accordingly, and we hopefully look forward to gaining approval for the final phase of this development.”
