Changes are being made to public access to the police headquarters in Inverness.
The Old Perth Road building hosts the management and administration staff of the north division of Police Scotland, as well as the area control room.
It is not an operational police station – but previously two administrative staff have been based there to assist members of the public who call in.
Generally they have directed people to the city’s main police station at Burnett Road.
However, one of these staff is now moving to another role within the police and the force has decided there is no longer “operational need” for the position.
Highlands and islands regional commander Chief Superintendent Philip MacRae said: “The office at Old Perth Road is an administrative building which services the management functions of the Highlands and Islands Division of Police Scotland and also provides staff office accommodation.
“This office provides no operational contact for the public who continue to access policing services through our operational station at Burnett Road and through direct telephone contact using the 101 and 999 systems.
“Should any member of the public attend this office seeking an operational police response, the existing provisions for contacting the area control room which currently operate at the building will continue.
“There will be no change or impact to the service provided to members of the public as a result of access to this administrative base.”
