A woman was found wandering the streets after leaving Inverness’s psychiatric hospital in her nightclothes.
The patient was spotted by members of the public near New Craigs Hospital last Thursday, wearing a dressing gown, nightdress and socks.
She was returned to the hospital after the police and an ambulance attended.
A spokesman for NHS Highland said: “NHS Highland does not comment on individual cases; however the upmost reassurance can be given that New Craigs Hospital is committed to providing person-centred, effective and safe care.
“This is provided in a therapeutic environment and provides care in the least restrictive way, according to the severity of the patient’s illness.
“There are stringent procedures in place to ensure all patients have a risk assessment and management plan in place which includes a missing persons procedure.
“This procedure is completed on admission and reviewed throughout the admission.”
