A 19-year-old Inverness woman who glassed a man in the face in a city nightclub has six months to prove she can be of good behaviour before sentencing.
Sydney MacDonald, of Broadstone Park, pleaded guilty to the offence against Ryan McNally which happened at Johnny Foxes nightclub on August 25.
Miss MacDonald also admitted repeatedly striking another man, Javen Houston, in the head with her hands at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Defence solicitor Rory Gowans told the court that the incidents happened as a result of Miss MacDonald being provoked by a group of men in their early 20s outside the nightclub, and stressed it was an “isolated incident”.
Procurator fiscal depute Ross Carvel told the court that CCTV showed Miss MacDonald approaching a group of about three men, aged about 23, at about 1.50am on August 25.
Mr Carvel added: “She clearly engaged in conversation with at least one of them. As a result of something said she appears to react and repeatedly slaps Mr Houston on the side of the face. There were four slaps and he did not react.
“One of the other members of the group is seen to pour a drink over the accused’s head. The accused then turns around, walks one or two paces, then returns and strikes Mr Ryan McNally on the face with a glass, catching him on the left eyebrow which was bleeding.”
Sheriff James Scott said: “Miss MacDonald, sentence will be deferred for a period of about six months and in that period you must show good behaviour. If you have, the court will be able to take a relatively lenient view given you have no previous convictions, but on the other hand if there are any more assaults, all options remain open to the court.”
Sheriff Scott deferred sentence until October 24 this year.
