A 46-year-old driver was fined £400 and banned for 15 months after being caught driving in Inverness at nearly five times the legal limit.
Nicola McMann, of Rosehill Road in Glasgow, plead guilty to the charge at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday.
Fiscal depute Fiona Murray told the court that several callers alerted police to a car being driven by McMann on the A9 Inverness-Perth road, near the Longman Roundabout, on December 10 last year.
Ms Murray said that officers tracked her down and said that she “smelled strongly of alcohol” and “did appear to be intoxicated.”
McMann’s defence solicitor, Alison Foggo, said that her client expressed “deep shame and sorrow about her irresponsible actions.”
McMann was found to have 240 mgs of alcohol in 100mls of blood, exceeding the limit of 50mgs/100ml.
