Special Inverness car cruise in honour of “brave” Dylan

A special car cruise event will take place in Inverness tonight in memory of a 15-year-old boy who died following a lengthy battle with Leukemia.

Dylan Kay fought against the illness for eight years but eventually his body contracted sepsis, which resulted in his life support being turned off with his family by his side.

Last night his father, Peter Kay, was too upset to speak at length about his son, but said he will be “greatly missed” and that he and the family have been “overwhelmed by the amount of support” in the past few days.

Dylan’s funeral will take place today at William T Fraser and Son, where a funeral drive past was originally planned before the service in honour of Dylan’s love for fast cars. However, due to the huge response and potentially large number of cars, this has been rescheduled.

A special car cruise event, Dylan’s Cruise, has now been arranged to start from the Tesco car park at Holm at 6pm.

Dylan’s brother-in-law, Alex Fraser, wrote a thank you note on social media last night which read: “He loved fast cars, so in honour of him we are wanting a line up of as many as possible to go and give it some noise. This would mean a great deal to his family so I’m asking anyone available to help out.

“We will cruise past various locations and make one hell of a noise.”

“The family are absolutely heartbroken. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew and friend. He was my mrs’ little brother and uncle to our three kids, he will be missed very much. Dylan was the one of the nicest, bravest and strongest boys I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.”

More than 1,600 comments have been posted underneath Mr Fraser’s online message, which has been shared more than 13,200 times.

The cruise will be led by a blue Subaru and anyone with a car or motorbike is invited.

Donations at the car cruise event can be made to CLIC Sargent, the charity which helped Dylan and his family, at

A fundraising page has also been set up by a friend to help support his family during this difficult time. It can be found at
