A man was seriously injured last night following an attack in an Inverness street.
Police were called to the incident in the city’s Grant Street in Merkinch at about 9.45pm.
Two police vans and a dog unit went to the scene and a police cordon was put up at about 10pm, with the road re-opening about an hour later.
A police spokeswoman said: “Police were called following reports that a man had been seriously assaulted. His injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
“Police inquiries are ongoing and police are following positive lines of inquiry.”
