Bught Park in Inverness was a massive rainbow of colour on Saturday, when people of all ages turned up to take part in a charity 5k fun run and assault course while being splattered with a kaleidoscope of paints.
The Run for Colour: Assault 2017 event will help raise vital funds for the Highland Hospice.
More than 500 enthusiastic children and adults participated and the total funds raised this year will be revealed in about six weeks’ time.
The event, which normally involves just a fun run, is now in its fourth year and involved an assault course for the first time.
Hospice fundraising manager, Amanda Burt, said the weather stayed sunny and dry for the most part and that the wind helped spray the paint in all directions.
She said: “It was a brilliant day and a really good atmosphere.
“The 5k run is three times the route in Bught Park and people got coloured paint just before and after the obstacles and at various different stations on the route.
“There were over 500 people taking part and, obviously, with the assault course added in this year to make it more difficult, we hope that interest is greater and that sponsorship will be higher than before.
“We wondered how the obstacles would go down but everyone just loved them. There were certain ones were more people wanted to do it again and again.”
Children’s favourites included the water-filled skips and an inflatable maze at the end of the assault course.
Other challenges included an army crawl along the ground under nets, monkey bars above a water pit and climbing up and over a high wall.
The event entry fee included a white T-shirt, sunglasses and a packet of paint for throwing at friends.
Highland Hospice aims to support local people – and their families and carers – living with an advancing, life-shortening illness to live the best possible life and to prepare them in the best way for a dignified death.
