A 28-year-old woman has been charged in connection with an alleged robbery which took place in broad daylight in Inverness city centre.
The incident happened in the city’s Academy Street between 2pm and 2.30pm on Saturday.
It is believed that a woman had a number of personal items stolen.
Police have appealed for witnesses, and anyone who was in the area at the time, to contact them with any information.
Detective Inspector Maggie Miller said: “I can confirm a woman has been charged in relation to this incident, but we would still like to hear from members of the public who were in the area and may have witnessed the incident.”
Inverness South councillor Ken Gowans said: “This is a very disturbing act.
“Obviously, we rely heavily on tourism and Inverness has a reputation for being open and friendly and a safe place to visit.
“There seems to be an escalation of this kind of incident and it’s completely unacceptable. It’s something we are going to have to look seriously at because these incidents seem to be happening far too frequently.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The alleged robbery comes just over a week after four teenagers – aged between 14 and 16 – were arrested in connection with a robbery in the Inshes Park area of the city.
In that instance, a 31-year-old man was approached by a group in the early hours of the morning and had personal items stolen.
He received minor injuries and was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.
And a week beforehand, a large sum of money was stolen in a robbery in the city’s Crown Stores.
