Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Inverness city centre.
The 51-year-old was on Lombard Street on Tuesday at around 6.30pm when he was approached by a man and a woman.
Police said “a conversation ensued which resulted in the victim being pushed to the ground”.
He suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was taken to the city’s Raigmore Hospital for treatment.
Police are particularly keen to speak to the man involved, who is described as standing about 5ft 5in in height, of skinny build with short brown hair which was longer at the back.
He was wearing a green top, dark jeans and trainers.
Police Sergeant Jo Thomson said: “This is a concerning incident given that it happened in the city centre in daylight.
“A high profile police presence is being maintained in the city centre as part of Operation Respect.
“Anyone with information relating to this recent incident should contact Police on 101, quoting reference NN20732/17, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
