A group of women raised almost £1,200 for a cancer support charity when they walked through Inverness at the weekend.
The members of the online Younger Breast Cancer Network collected the cash as they completed their mission of walking to every Maggie’s Centre in Scotland.
In total, the group has now surpassed its target of raising £14,000 for the charity, which provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends.
They gathered at Inverness Rail Station on Saturday morning, before fundraising in the city centre, and walking up to Maggie’s Highland centre at Raigmore Hospital.
Theresa Cowie, from Helmsdale, was among those taking part in the walk.
She said: “It’s a group of women who take part in the Younger Breast Cancer Network forum for ladies aged 45 and under who have had breast cancer.
“A lot of them have done the walk all over Scotland – they wanted to visit every Maggies in Scotland. I just think it’s absolutely fantastic what they are doing.
“Some of us hadn’t met, but you get to know them on the forum. We chat all the time.”
Seonaid Green, centre head at Maggie’s Highland, said: “It’s really nice to welcome them all up here, it’s great.
“We don’t get funding from any statutory bodies and we rely on donations, so it’s great we will get a share of the money raised.
“It’s about bringing people together, which is what Maggie’s is about.”
