Members of an Inverness family are raising funds for the Raigmore Hospital Macmillan suite after being touched by the care and compassion their late mother received.
The family is cycling the North Coast 500 over five days to help support the unit.
Many members of the family work for NHS Highland, and they are pedalling the route in memory of their mum, Marion Nicolson, who passed away earlier this year.
They were impressed by the level of care and compassion from all staff at the Macmillan suite and have already raised £4,000 to be donated to the Highland Health Board Endowment Fund.
NHS Highland’s technical project manager Sarah Smith said: “My dad, husband, sister and her partner are cycling the North Coast 500 over five days from Saturday September 16.
“They are getting on their bikes to thank the staff at the Macmillan suite in Raigmore Hospital for the wonderful care they provided for my mum.
“My mum was a fitness enthusiast and a keen cyclist, so we thought it would be a fitting tribute.
“I’ll be driving a van and will be touring with them providing snacks and refreshments along the way. We have accommodation sorted each evening along the route, so they can get a good meal and a comfortable bed to sleep in.
“We are absolutely delighted to have raised £4,000 so far and we hope to raise even more money to donate to such a wonderful cause. We have set up a JustGiving page and any donations are gratefully received.”
