An 11-year-old boy from Inverness has run his first ever 5k to help support a charity close to his heart.
Daniel Fraser took part in the Baxter’s Loch Ness Marathon event and raised a fantastic £380 for Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society Scotland.
The Inshes Primary pupil was inspired to run because his gran Audrey Fraser lives with the neurological condition that affects more than 11,000 people in Scotland.
Daniel, who is in primary seven, completed his run in just over 24 minutes and is already looking ahead to his next fundraising challenge for MS Society Scotland.
He is now preparing for the 2018 Edinburgh Marathon Festival 5k.
Daniel said: “I play lots of football which helps me to improve my stamina. I wanted to raise money for MS Society Scotland and to make my granny proud of me.
“I can’t wait to run the Edinburgh Marathon Festival 5k and will train to try and get an even better time there. My Opa (grandfather) is coming over from Holland to run with me for the MS Society as well.”
Proud mum Nicole said: “He is a really caring and thoughtful boy and I am super proud of him for deciding to do it for charity.”
Morna Simpkins, director for MS Society Scotland, said: “On behalf of all at MS Society Scotland, we would like to say a big thank you to Daniel, who we are thrilled to have on board as a young fundraiser.”
MS is an unpredictable and exhausting condition that can affect how a person thinks, feels and moves.
