The knitters have arrived.
Loch Ness Knit Fest is well underway at Inverness Ice Centre.
Kicking off with a fashion show, yesterday saw work on display by Di Gilpin, Christel Seyfarth and Tartan Creations.
More than 500 people had come through the door before midday on day one of the festival, set to run until tomorrow.
Today, Hazel Tindall from Shetland, the fastest knitter in the world, will be giving presentations and running workshops.
Festival organiser Cecilia Grigor said: “We have had music on the main stage throughout the day from different Highland musicians. It has been very busy. We are running more than 10 different workshops and free demonstrations.
“People have travelled from as far away as America especially for the festival.”
Blazin Fiddles gave a concert last night and today participants are in for even more entertainment with story telling from Willie Cameron.
There will be more demonstrations on the main stage throughout the weekend, demonstrating the very best that the crafts have to offer.
Clarsach music will be performed by Cheyenne Brown and later there will be acoustic music from Connor Johnson.
Other highlights include A History of Yarns in the Highlands from Clare Campbell and two at a time socks with Kurt Payne.
The Knit Fest Hub at the ice centre, complete with Marketplace, Main Stage and Crafting Village is open from 10am – 6pm today (Sat) and 10am – 2pm tomorrow. (Sun)
Knitting classes run from 9am noon and 2-5pm today at the Leisure Centre, Inverness Museum, Mercure Hotel and Inverness Ice Centre.
