The much-anticipated first rugby match at the new multi-million pound Canal Park pitches in Inverness will go ahead today.
Highland Rugby Club’s game against Ardrossan Accies will kick off at 3pm.
A home match against Gordonians was meant to be the stage for the grand opening but this had to be called off after council officials admitted, less than 24 hours beforehand, that all necessary paperwork on the clubhouse had not been formally signed off.
But a council spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that the keys to the new facilities have now been handed over to the club.
The club recently posted the news on social media and have invited spectators down from 1.30pm to see the new facilities, enjoy a beer and support the team.
